Following on from the list of optimum seed germination temperatures for vegetables that we published recently, here’s a more general (very much) work-in-progress list to help you get growing…
Essentially, the list of germination temperatures featured on this page should be viewed as a guide only – your own mileage may vary, dependent on a whole host of factors, including climate, location, seed genetics, moisture levels and so forth. Notwithstanding that, it’s certainly always useful to prepare yourself with as much knowledge as possible before embarking on the attempted germination of a species you may not have grown before, and so we offer this resource in that spirit!
We’ll be updating this list as we have time to do so, but don’t forget that there is a lot more to encouraging the best possible seed germination rates than simply setting the right temperature! However, at least this concise chart should give you a head start on your way to growing your favourite species – whether purchased from our store or elsewhere.
As always, if you have anything useful to contribute, please do get in touch via the Contact page – we want to make this site the best resource possible, but can’t do that without a little help from you! Good luck with your germination experiments…
