Arkham’s Botanical offers an enviable range of Trichocereus cactus ‘named clones’ and other hybrid varieties, sourced from ethical expert growers. Growers create and maintain species and cultivar hybrids to try to either birth a strain that bears desirable characteristics of both parent plants (e.g. fast growth rate and disease-resistance), or simply to breed a particularly beautiful or genetically-distinct plant.

The term ‘named clone’ refers to the names given to specific plants to keep track of them. For example, popular Trichocereus named clones include the ‘Lumberjack’ and ‘Psycho0’.

If you’re new to the world of cactus hybrids, they’re named as follows: ‘Mother plant’ (from which the fruit and seeds developed) x ‘Father plant’ (from which the pollen used in the cross originated). A real-life example might be Trichocereus pachanoi x Trichocereus bridgesii ‘Tig’.
