Phalaris

Arkham’s Botanical sells freshly and ethically-sourced seed (and occasionally live plants) of the interesting species Phalaris aquatica and Phalaris brachystachys.

Phalaris is a genus of grasses under the Poaceae (or Graminae) family. It comprises between fifteen and twenty or so member species, dependent on who you listen to, which grow in a broad range of habitats – from marshy waterlogged areas to relatively dry locations. Not forgetting that they are spread out all over the world too (on all the continents except Antarctica), whether growing below sea level, or thousands of feet above!

Other species of note for their attractive ornamental appearance (which we may stock at a later date) include the popular species Phalaris arundinacea and Phalaris canariensis. If there’s something that you’re looking for in particular and you don’t see it listed here (or elsewhere on the website), please feel free to let us know and we’ll do what we can to help you out.
