Lophophora williamsii *B STOCK* | ‘Peyote’ | ~3-4cm rooted plant
We’re happy to offer these fantastic rooted Lophophora williamsii *B STOCK* plants, grown organically from seed in the Spanish sun, without the use of any chemicals or pesticides…
Unfortunately – due to careless handling by one of our suppliers – these particular specimens were damaged en route to us (see photos for typical examples). We’ve therefore decided to list some of them here as discounted ‘B Stock’, with damage ranging from slight grazing to small wounds (all of which have now calloused over). These plants should all return to their full glory over the coming years given a little tender loving care, but for now we need to clear some space in our grow room, hence are offering them to you here. Grab a bargain while you can and gain some cactus karma in the process! If you’d prefer an undamaged plant, however, we also sell those too.
Lophophora williamsii is a small, spineless cactus, containing a rich mixture of alkaloids. The English familiar ‘peyote’ derives from the Spanish for this beautiful plant, which itself comes from the Nahuatl ‘peyōtl’ (apparently derived from a root meaning “glisten” or “glistening”). To give you some idea of how slowly the species grows, our three to five centimetre plants are all approximately four to five years old.
‘Peyote’ is native to Mexico and south-western Texas, primarily in the Chihuahuan desert, and in the states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosi, and Tamaulipas, growing among scrub (which it uses for shade). Indigenous North Americans are believed to have used peyote for ritualistic practices for over five thousand years.
Grown organically from seed in the Spanish sunshine!
