Trichocereus bridgesii | ‘Bolivian Torch’ | Rooted plant

Arkham’s Botanical proudly offers limited stocks of these young and healthy Trichocereus bridgesii cacti – the legendary ‘Bolivian Torch’!

Grown organically from seed under glass in the UK, these fast-growing and sought-after cacti are rooted plants of various sizes. ‘Bolivian Torch’ can grow up to around five metres tall, and up to twenty centimetres in diameter. It has evenly spaced spines that can grow up to roughly eight centimetres long.

Found growing naturally in the high deserts of Bolivia, bridgesii (closely-related to the famous ‘San Pedro’, or Trichocereus pachanoi, and ‘Peruvian Torch’, or Trichocereus peruvianus) is an impressive columnar cactus, known variously by the indigenous populations of Bolivia as ‘Achuma’ or ‘Wachuma’ – although these names are sometimes also used to describe pachanoi and peruvianus too. Although similar in many ways to its relatives in the Trichocereus genus, bridgesii is a much skinnier type than most, which is also slightly more prone to rot if over-watered. This is probably our favourite species of the genus and it’s easy to grow too (following a similar approach as for ‘San Pedro’, ‘Peruvian Torch’, etc.).

Grown organically from seed in the UK!

  1. Lewis

A beautiful plant that has obviously been reared with care.

    • Arkham’s

      😉 Thanks for noticing Lewis!

  2. Kristy

Arrived super quick and packaged extremely well. Plant in great condition on arrival. Looks very healthy. Lovely little plant. Can’t wait to see how it grows 🙂 Thank you.

    • Arkham’s

🙂 We’re very glad it’s arrived with you and you’re pleased with your new acquisition! Don’t forget to go a little easier with the water for this species (comparative to Trichocereus pachanoi, etc.) if you’ve not grown it previously – it’s a little more prone to rot but such a beautiful cactus…

  3. Arkham’s

Hi Deborah, hopefully the email we just sent you outlining the cause of the stock confusion will explain things to your satisfaction!

  4. Anonymous

Seems healthy, would have preferred it to be in a pot rather than arriving with exposed root as had to purchase soil to keep alive.

    • Arkham’s

Duly noted – we’ll try to make that clearer – thanks for your feedback & enjoy your new plant!

  5. Eddie P.

The best of the Trichocereus family! Lovely plant and friendly service. Recommended.
