Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstruosa cristata inermis | ‘Crested Penis Cactus’ | ~6-10cm rooted plant
Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstruosa cristata inermis (syn. Echinopsis lageniformis f. inermis cristata, Echinopsis lageniformis f. monstruosa cristata, Trichocereus bridgesii f. monstruosus cristatus) is a relatively new mutant cactus cultivar.
Commonly known as the ‘Crested Penis Cactus’, this absolutely incredible, spineless/minimally-spined plant is very different from the usual species type, forming intricate, green fan or shell-like extrusions up to approximately forty or fifty centimetres high. These branches tend toward exhibiting all sorts of variations on and combinations of both cristata (crested) and monstruosa (monstrose) growth, making each and every one of these cacti especially desirable!
Altogether, there are several fascinating mutant forms of Trichocereus bridgesii. These include a cristate form, two monstrose cultivars (which we also sometimes sell) and a variegated type too. There are also two newer hybrids which are occasionally available on the market; the one listed here and a second, variegated monstrose form.
