Trichocereus bridgesii ‘Wowie’ x Trichocereus bridgesii ‘KGC’ | 25 seeds
Here’s another cool crossbreed cactus seed for the serious collectors; Trichocereus bridgesii ‘Wowie’ x Trichocereus bridgesii ‘KGC’! An absolutely fantastic Trichocereus hybrid – and one of our UK exclusives too.
Both of the parents of this cross are respected Trichocereus bridgesii (syn. Echinopsis lageniformis – often known as ‘Bolivian Torch’) clones. Bridgesii is a rapidly-growing columnar cactus, native to Bolivia, which attains a maximum height of upto about six metres. Stems up to twenty centimetres in diameter branch from the plant’s base and mature specimen can grow taller by up to thirty centimetres every year!
An especially close relation to Trichocereus pachanoi (‘San Pedro’) and Trichocereus peruvianus (‘Peruvian Torch’), bridgesii really is a gorgeous species, recognisable by fierce spines that can grow to ten centimetres long! As with some other Trichocereus species, it has been used by Bolivian shaman in healing rituals and is regarded by them as possessing sacred and protective properties. The species is also grown as an ornamental and as a universal grafting stock, offering a high success rate and a long-lifetime of speedy and consistent growth.
The cactus seeds listed here are quite easy to germinate and grow in the UK and Europe. Their main requirements are relatively high humidity levels, a free-draining soil mix and enough water, light and nutrients.
