Trichocereus cuzcoensis | Seeds
Trichocereus cuzcoensis is a self-sterile, spiny and bright-green columnar cactus that grows in countries including Bolivia and Peru, to roughly two to five metres tall. It’s similar in appearance to many plants found in the Trichocereus peruvianus complex, with which it easily forms transitional hybrids.
Growing easily from seed or cuttings in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-12, the species responds well when treated like other popular Trichocereus, such as Trichocereus pachanoi and Trichocereus bridgesii. Germination should occur between two to six weeks from sowing, provided an ideal temperature of between 26°C and 30°C is maintained.
Whichever side of the whole cuzcoensis/peruvianus division debate you fall on, this is good, viable seed that will grow out into some gorgeous cacti!
