The attractive Trichocereus terscheckii (syn. Echinopsis terscheckii) is a large columnar cactus native to areas of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Growing well in USDA Hardiness Zones 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, the species is commonly known as the ‘Cardón Grande’ or ‘Argentine Saguaro’.

Like other closely-related Trichocereus species such as Trichocereus pachanoi (‘San Pedro’) and Trichocereus peruvianus (‘Peruvian Torch’), it’s easy to grow from seed, producing branching columns up to roughly ten metres high and fifty centimetres in diameter.
