Trichocereus terscheckii ‘JN1149’ | ‘Cardón Grande’ | Seeds
Arkham’s Botanical is excited to offer limited stocks of this excellent Trichocereus terscheckii cactus seed, the ‘JN1149’ variety, collected by Jan Novák (at a height of 1,990 metres) in the village of Hualfin, in Argentina’s Catamarca province. This is another of our UK exclusives!
A truly spectacular large, columnar cactus species, Trichocereus terscheckii (syn. Echinopsis terscheckii) in a native of Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. It’s generally known informally as the ‘Argentine Saguaro’ or ‘Cardón Grande’, but is also known by the names ‘Cardón Santos’, ‘Golden Saguaro’, ‘San Pedro’ and ‘South American Saguaro’.
Growing easily (from seed or cuttings) in USDA Hardiness Zones 8-13 – as do many closely-related Trichocereus species such as the ‘San Pedro’, Trichocereus pachanoi – it soon forms branching columns of up to ten metres or so in height and fifty centimetres in diameter. Terscheckii also produces some absolutely fantastic flowers! Start from seed using the ‘Enhanced Takeaway Tek’ (in our Cultivation section) – provide well-drained soil, a relatively high level of humidity and adequate light, nutrients and water and you’ll be golden!
All the seed sold by Arkham’s Botanical was freshly and ethically sourced
