Trichocereus terscheckii ‘Rio Paganzo’ | ‘Cardón Grande’ | Seeds
Arkham’s Botanical is pleased to be selling this great high-quality Trichocereus terscheckii cactus seed, collected by Joël Lodé in the Rio Paganzo, Argentina (JLcoll.4377)! We’ve quite limited stocks of this nice variety and – you guessed it – it’s yet another of our UK exclusives…
We came to the spectacular Trichocereus terscheckii (syn. Echinopsis terscheckii) relatively late in our initiation into the world of Trichocereus cultivation, when we came across one in a friend’s garden, causing us to appreciate how magnificent this cactus really is! A large columnar species originating from Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, the plant’s most often called ‘Argentine Saguaro’ and ‘Cardón Grande’ (less often so ‘Cardón Santos’, ‘Golden Saguaro’, ‘San Pedro’ and ‘South American Saguaro’).
Growing well in USDA Hardiness Zones 8-13 (as do many closely-related Trichocereus species such as ‘San Pedro’, Trichocereus pachanoi), it’s easy and fun to grow from seed, resulting in the growth of branching columns which reach up to approximately ten metres in height and fifty centimetres in diameter. Terscheckii also forms amazing flowers, given the right cultivation conditions. Start the seeds using the ‘Enhanced Takeaway Tek’ (in our Cultivation section) – their main requirements consisting of well-drained soil, high humidity levels and adequate light, nutrients and water.
All the seed sold by Arkham’s Botanical was freshly and ethically sourced
