‘Autumn King 2’ is a popular and tasty form of the common carrot, Daucus carota. Located within the Apiaceae family, the species is commonly known by names such as ‘Bird’s Nest’, ‘Bishop’s Lace’, ’Carrot’, ‘Queen Anne’s Lace’ and ‘Wild Carrot’.
Coming highly recommended by all and sundry, ‘Autumn King 2’ really is one of the better main crop carrot varieties which produces magnificently flavoursome, beautifully-shaped orange-red carrots!
Native to temperate regions of Europe and southwest Asia – as well as being long-naturalised to Australia and the USA – domesticated carrots are hardy subspecies cultivars growing thirty to sixty centimetres tall by roughly fifteen centimetres across. ‘Autumn King 2’ will thrive in full sun to partial shade, in moisture-retentive and humus-rich soil – either in the ground or in shallow containers.
