Daucus carota ‘Early Nantes’ | ‘Carrot’ | 100 seeds
‘Early Nantes’ is a virtually coreless tasty variety of Daucus carota, the common carrot of the Apiaceae variously known as ‘Bird’s Nest’, ‘Bishop’s Lace’, ’Carrot’, ‘Queen Anne’s Lace’ and ‘Wild Carrot’. A second early and maincrop tapered stump type with a great texture and flavour, ‘Early Nantes’ thrives in full sun in moisture-retentive and humus-rich soil, either in soils or shallow containers.
Native to temperate regions of Europe and southwest Asia – as well as being long-naturalised to Australia and the USA – domesticated carrots are hardy subspecies cultivars growing thirty to sixty centimetres tall in full sun to partial shade.
