Ipomoea tricolor ‘Heavenly Blue’ | ‘Morning Glory’, ‘Tlitlilzin’ | Seeds
‘Heavenly Blue’ is a well-regarded and vibrantly-hued Ipomoea tricolor (‘Morning Glory’) variety. This plant’s funnel-shaped blue flowers and heart-shaped leaves brighten up any garden, particularly when trained as a climbing plant!
Besides ‘Morning Glory’, tricolor is also known by names such as ‘Badoh Negro’, ‘Bajucillo’, ‘Heavenly Blue’, ‘La’aja Shnash’, ‘Ma:sung Pahk’, ‘Mantos de Cielo’, ‘Mehen Tu’xikin’, ‘Pih Pu’ecte:sh’, ‘Quiebraplato, ‘Tlitlilzin’ and ‘Xha’il’.
A twining annual of the Convolvulaceae family, the species requires warm sun and rich, well-drained soil. To improve germination rates, soak the seed for roughly twelve hours in warm water and then sow in individual pots in early spring. Germination usually occurs around 22°C. Be aware that Ipomoea tricolor plants must be potted up immediately subsequent to germination, as they do not tolerate disturbance well!
