Papaver somniferum ‘Sissinghurst White’ | ‘Opium Poppy’ | ~100 seeds
‘Sissinghurst White’ is a wonderful Papaver somniferum (‘Opium Poppy’) variety, named for the fact that the original seed came from Sissinghurst Castle’s White Garden. Desirable both for its beauty and as a prolific seasonal source of nutritious seed, this really is a great Papaver somniferum cultivar, crowned with fantastic, large white flowers (which bloom between May and August) and growing to roughly sixty centimetres tall once fully mature.
Easily cultivated from seed, somniferum grows in full and sheltered sun, in clay, chalk, loam or sand (either acid, alkaline or neutral). Just make sure that you’re somewhere in USDA Hardiness Zones 7-11, allow adequate drainage and you’ll soon have your very own – wildly colourful – poppy patch!
All the seed sold by Arkham’s Botanical was freshly and ethically sourced
