Acacia neurophylla subsp. erugata (syn. Racosperma neurophyllum) | 25 seeds
Arkham’s Botanical is proud to offer another of our EU exclusives – the sought-after perennial Acacia neurophylla subsp. erugata.
A one to five-metre-tall erect shrub or small tree of the Fabaceae which is native to Western Australia, neurophylla (syn. Racosperma neurophyllum) comprises two variable subspecies which definitely deserve more attention! These are Acacia neurophylla subsp. neurophylla and Acacia neurophylla subsp. erugata. Both prefer to grow in yellow sand and laterite, especially in agricultural fields, granite outcrops, roadsides, sandy heaths, savannah, scrubland and woodland.
This low spreading shrub forms narrow elliptical phyllodes, between five to fifteen centimetres long and roughly half to one centimetre wide. Its lovely cylindrical yellow flowers appear between May and November, growing to roughly five centimetres in both length and diameter. The flowers are followed by straight, five centimetre to eight centimetre long by roughly five millimetres wide seedpods.
Both forms of the species tolerate drought well and seem fairly easy to cultivate from seed, provided proper Acacia seed pre-treatment techniques are applied.
All the seed sold by Arkham’s Botanical was freshly and ethically sourced in 2018-2019
